It’s probably fair to say that coronavirus has taken over our lives during the last six months. You may still be avoiding busy public places, you might be working from home, and if you’ve got children, you have probably spent some time working as a home educator. You might have faced periods of great anxiety and uncertainty, and for a time, at least, Covid-19 might have been all that you’ve thought about.
Most of us have had two main worries during this time. First, our health, and the health and wellbeing of the people that we love, as well as the wider population. You might have taken precautions to ensure your safety, and that of your household, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t normal to have been worried. The second main concern for most of us has been our finances.
Whether you have been furloughed, working from home, or facing reduced hours, your financial situation may have changed. Even if your work has, up until now stayed the same, you may be worried about the future. Many people have already been made redundant.
Worrying about money never helps matters. So, instead of worrying, take action. Spend some time reorganising your finances and getting to grips with any changes that you may have had to make. Here are some tips to help you.
Create a Household Budget
If you are used to spending without much thought or at least being able to make small day to day purchases without having to worry about it, now might be the time to stop. Draw up a household budget, thinking carefully about your expenditure and income, and stop spending without giving it some thought.
Make Some Cutbacks

When it comes to money worries, the worst thing that you can do is nothing. Stop and worry in silence, and your problems will only grow in your mind. Speak to someone, draw up a budget, and take even small actions, and suddenly, your problems won’t seem half as scary.
